My First Test With ScreenFlow

This is just a test video I made using ScreenFlow screen-capture software on my MacBook Pro. This is the first time I've used it and I'm really happy with the results. The software couldn't be easier to use. I intend on eventually using it to show how I create music by taking you through a session and showing exactly what I'm doing on screen. I realize I'm saying "uhhhh" a lot in this video. I'm having a hard time thinking since I've been up for about 30 hours now. Peace...

I was living in Miami (South Beach) when I started this blog one afternoon exactly 2 years ago. I had some downtime during a keyboard session on Sunset Island and I was looking for a permanent way to post my content in one central location. Since I like to do everything myself (design, coding, etc.) the blog format seemed like the easiest solution. (And it was free.) I've posted roughly 300 articles in the past 2 years. Feel free to check the archives (located on the lefthand sidebar) and view some of the older content. There are a few humorous articles posted throughout as well. Thanks for visiting. I appreciate every one of you!

My brother Chris survived Tuscaloosa tornado

My brother (comic book artist Chris Wozniak) survived the recent tornadoes in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 27th by jumping into his bathtub wearing a motorcycle helmet. I was on the phone with him one minute before the tornado hit. He lost all of his possessions and his home was completely leveled but he was able to save his 2 dogs. So yesterday, I had to take my mom to the doctor to get some tests done. First mistake was...

Now mind you, this is a doctor's office on Canal Street in New York City's Chinatown...

You can see my reflection in the sign there. It's about 11:00am when we enter. We're greeted by a staff of 3 that neither one of us can barely understand, but we get through it eventually. Now begins the waiting process. I spy a large stack of magazines. All of them are in Chinese except one...

I spend almost an hour thumbing through it. Now it's almost 12:00pm. We're still waiting to be seen after an hour. Finally, they call my mom's name and she disappears through a door for the first of her tests. I haven't had breakfast yet. My stomach is trying to digest my backbone at this point. I decide to venture downstairs and scope out the eats. Being that I didn't want to be gone for too long and wasn't in the mood for eel or ducks with their heads still attached, I settle on the McDonald's directly next door...

Almost immediately, I'm reminded of how much I detest eating there. Next tweet...

I finish up my 2 cheeseburgers and head back upstairs to the doctor's office. Mom is still gone. I find the last available seat in the waiting room. Everybody seems enthralled with a movie that's on the television...

This was the highlight of my afternoon so far. I enter the building again, still chuckling. Raj is not amused. He says something to me that I really don't understand so I wave him off and head for the elevator. Back upstairs, mom is still nowhere to be found. Next tweet...

I wait some more. And some more. I've been here four and a half fucking hours now. Mom finally emerges from a door. She's done. I do a little dance around the room and thank Jesus. I take her home and now I have to go get her prescriptions filled.

Should be simple, yeah? Pharmacy Girl tells me to come back in 30 minutes. I go across the street and grab some pizza. "That killed about 5 minutes", I thought to myself. I walk around the neighborhood and notice a strange bus that I'd never seen before parked about a block away...

You might not be able to tell from my shitty cell phone picture but the sign says GOD WANTS YOU TO TALK TO HIM. "Really?" I'm intrigued. Especially by the balloons and apparent leftover Easter decorations. I walk over and see 2 teenage girls in the window who couldn't have been a day over 17. The (brief) conversation is transcribed verbatim...

Scott: "God wants me to talk to Him?"
Girl 1: "Huh?"
Scott: "Your sign. It says that God wants me to talk to Him."
Girl 1: "This is just for children in the neighborhood."
Scott: "So God doesn't want to speak to me?"
Girl 1: "No."
Scott: "What kind of bullshit scam is this?"
Girl 2: "Should I call the police?"
Scott: "You guys are real assholes."

I still had about 23 minutes to kill at this point so I went and checked out magazines back at the CVS until it was time to see Pharmacy Girl again...

After a brief wait, Pharmacy Girl informed me that they wouldn't have what my mom needed for 72 hours. I asked why and she mumbled something that sounded like "Tis min boot on bahk worder." I stared at her blankly for a few seconds and all I could muster was a meek "You guys are real assholes" and left.

Winter Music Conference '02 will always stand out in my mind as the best one ever. The parties were amazing, the streets were spilling over with people and the energy was just insane. This was especially surprising since this was the first conference right after 9/11. Sadly, I seem to have lost many of the photos but I've found a few.
